The additional CMI Principles of Management Consulting course has been curated using the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) Level 5 Professional Consulting qualification framework and is the first unit students must complete on their journey to Chartered status. It aims to provide an introduction to the consultancy professional an appreciation of the wide range of skills & knowledge required to be an effective consultant no matter your sector, background or industry.

Both the Level 6 SRMC® and the CMI distance learning courses are delivered to you fully online, using a blend of live and recorded sessions, supported by a range of resources and course features. The courses are designed to be accessible to you wherever you are located, as long as you have Internet access.
Each course is led by a designated Course Tutor, and the various Unit learning sessions are delivered by subject specialists. You will be able to communicate with the Course Tutors who will support, guide and advise you throughout the programme.
The SRMC course is structured in three units. Each unit can be comfortably completed in eight weeks, however students have 1 year to complete the course. There are two core units to complete and one that elective unit that can be chosen from a list of subject areas. The CMI course is an additional stand alone course that consists of seven sessions and two assignments. These are highlighted in the course information above.
A SRMC new cohort begins on the first of every other month, the calendar for this training year is shown on the page above. You may join any upcoming cohort during the training year. The CMI course can be completed at any time.
No problem - for the SRMC course, just contact the Course Tutor and we will be able to pause your studies until you are ready to continue. The CMI course can be completed at your own pace and can be picked up whenever you are ready to continue learning.
If you are struggling to keep up, or need more time and support, all you need to do is to contact the SRMC Course Tutor and you will receive the necessary support, guidance and advice to keep you on track. The FRG Team is highly experienced in delivering and supporting online learning and we are here to assist you throughout.
You have access to the materials 24/7; and any live sessions will be timetabled so that they are able to match time zone requirements of each cohort where possible. In some cases, there will be repeated live sessions to ensure that all students have the opportunity to attend from varied time zones and each live session will be recorded and uploaded for students to listen back in their own time.
You will need to be committed to your studies and will have to do some reading in your own time. The course is not designed to catch you out, but to provide you with information and content that increases your knowledge. As always, if you feel that you are struggling, all that you need to do is contact the Course Tutor for assistance. If you are worried about the level of study, it is recommended to complete the CMI Level 5 course first as this is pitched at an easier level so will help to ease you back into a student mindset.
The SRMC course is comprised of 120 learning hours, split between guided learning and self study. The actual amount of time you spend on the course will depend on the amount of effort that you can commit alongside other priorities. Students have up to 1 year to complete the course, and will be expected to self-study to build knowledge and understanding in order to complete the assignments.
Each SRMC Unit has an assessment, and these vary from case studies to presentations, essays and reports. You will be given the timescales, requirements and full details in your Assignment Brief provided by the Course Tutor. You must pass all assessments from the first two SRMC core units and one elective unit to successfully complete the SRMC course. Similarly, all of the CMI course assignments must be completed to gain the Level 5 CMI Award in Principles of Management Consulting. As always, your course leaders will be there to guide and advise.
Provisional feedback on marked SRMC assessments will normally be given to you electronically within 3 working weeks, if not earlier. Final results will need to be ratified by our accrediting body, ATHE, who externally assess your work once all of the units are complete. You will receive your final results at the end of this process. For the CMI course, assignments will be provisionally marked by the course leader before being sent to CMI for the final assessment.
For those who wish to, and at your own expense for food and accommodation, you will be able to attend our residential SRMC course for specific subject sessions related to your studies as an additional option.
