The SRMC® Level 5 course is primarily designed for security practitioners looking to strengthen their core skills and deepen their understanding of security risk management. It covers a range of practical modules designed to enhance the hands-on abilities of professionals working in the field, preparing them to effectively manage and mitigate risks in various environments.

This is to ensure that you have the necessary level of English proficiency to successfully engage with the course materials at this level.

Once the course tutor has met you and if he is content, you will be eligible to begin the course. If your English proficiency needs development, the tutor may recommend that you take additional English language courses before reapplying for the course.

SRMC® Level 5 Distance Learning

  • How does this distance learning course work?

    The Level 5 SRMC® Distance Course is delivered to you fully online, using a blend of live and recorded sessions, supported by a range of resources and course features. The course is designed to be accessible to you wherever you are located, as long as you have internet access.

  • Who teaches the course?

    The course is led by the designated Course Tutor, and the various learning sessions are delivered by subject specialists. You will be able to communicate with the Course Tutor who will support, guide and advise you throughout the programme.

  • What’s the structure?

    The course can be comfortably completed in eight weeks, however students have 1 year to complete the course. There are eight sessions and two assignments that need to be completed to pass the course. These are highlighted in the course curriculum above.

  • When does course take place?

    A new cohort begins on the first of every other month, the calendar for this training year is shown on the page above. You may join any upcoming cohort during the training year.

  • What happens if I need to pause my studies or move to a different cohort?

    No problem - just contact the Course Tutor and we will be able to pause your studies until you are ready to continue.

  • What happens if I fall behind?

    If you are struggling to keep up, or need more time and support, all you need to do is to contact the Course Tutor and you will receive the necessary support, guidance and advice to keep you on track. The FRG Team is highly experienced in delivering and supporting online learning and we are here to assist you throughout.

  • What if I am in a completely different time zone?

    You have access to the materials 24/7; and any live sessions will be timetabled so that they are able to match time zone requirements of each cohort where possible. In some cases, there will be repeated live sessions to ensure that all students have the opportunity to attend from varied time zones and each live session will be recorded and uploaded for students to listen back in their own time.

  • I have never studied at this level before, how difficult is it?

    You will need to be committed to your studies and will have to do some reading in your own time. The course is not designed to catch you out, but to provide you with information and content that increases your knowledge. As always, if you feel that you are struggling, all that you need to do is contact the Course Tutor for assistance.

  • How many hours a week will I need to study?

    The course is comprised of 90 learning hours, split between guided learning and self study. The actual amount of time you spend on the course will depend on the amount of effort that you can commit alongside other priorities. Students have up to 1 year to complete the course, and will be expected to self-study to build knowledge and understanding in order to complete the assignments.

  • What types of assessments are there on this course?

    The assignments consist of a written report and a personal reflective account. You will be given the timescales, requirements and full details in your Assignment Brief provided by the Course Tutor. You must pass all assessments to successfully complete the course. As always, your course leader will be there to guide and advise.

  • When can I expect feedback on my assessments?

    Provisional feedback on marked assessments will normally be given to you electronically within 3 working weeks, if not earlier. Final results will need to be externally verified by our accrediting body, City and Guilds, who externally assess your work once all assignments are completed. You will receive your final results at the end of this process.

  • Apart from the online live sessions will there be any other face-to-face teaching?

    For those who wish to, and at your own expense for food and accommodation, you will be able to attend our residential SRMC course for specific subject sessions related to your studies as an additional option.

At the start of the course, you will be prompted to fill out a Student Information Form where you will be able to pick your chosen cohort and elective unit.
